The idea of painting a starry sky onto a cloth art doll had been floating around my head for a while, so I decided to challenge myself.
Painting all the pieces, instead of covering the body with clothes meant I had to completely re-think the construction of the doll and fasten off the joints differently. I also needed to make the neck as a fixed joint, so I didn't have a visible button on the back.
I'd love to make more art dolls this way, but I think there are things I'd do differently next time to make the process easier. Isn't that what art is all about though? You experiment, try new things and keep learning and developing your style along the way.
