About the Artist

My name is Jo Hards. I am a self representing artist, based on a narrowboat in South Wales, on the threshold between the human world and the Otherworld. Spyderthread embodies the liminal space, where darkness and mystery meet playfulness and whimsy, in textiles, ink, watercolour and acrylics.

Since childhood, I have always been drawn to the wild places, where I see the magic in the mundane world. My art allows the collector to recall the adventure of childhood, that was often as dark and forboding as it was comforting and familiar. The characters I create have been described by many as Creepy Cute for their dark, yet innocent anthropomorphic charm.

I have been Vegan since 2010, and it is important to me that my work reflects that. As a collector of my art, you can be assured that I am committed to finding high quality, Vegan friendly tools and materials for everything I create.
