Aster is inspired by the mystical feel of summer nights, as the season edges ever so slowly into Autumn. For me, she brings to mind soft moonlight, the gentle breeze that gives you goosebumps, the scent of honeysuckle and the flutter of moths around a pale, flickering candle flame.
At 25cm, this Gothic style cloth art doll is a little larger than most of my recent dolls. I wanted to explore fabric painting a little more, and create a doll with a dark, yet delicate feminine feel. I was also eager to try out a new plant fibre made from roses. Aster's rose fibre hair is incredibly soft and silky. This unique material has a pearl-like sheen that almost glows like moonlight.
