Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle

I came up with the idea of Beady Dolls in 2016 when I was working in a tiny caravan. There was very little surface space to display dolls, but plenty of places to hang things up. I thought it would be fun to make a doll that could be hung anywhere, even in the tiniest of homes. My Beady Doll design has evolved over the years, but they are still based on the same concept: a small cloth doll with heavy beaded limbs to give them some weight, and a ribbon to hang them up.

Honeysuckle was inspired by the wild honeysuckle plant that I see winding its way through the Welsh woodland. The glass beads I used for her limbs reminded me of the faded pinks and yellows of the heady scented flowers, so I continued the colour schem throughout the doll. I used some silver plated leaf charms for her hands and feet, turning her into an etherial plant spirit.
