Pearl Mournington - Original Textile Art Doll

In life, Pearl Mournington visited the cemetery often. It was a peaceful place where she would wander among the graves of her ancestors and feel very much at home. Placing flowers on her Grandmother's grave, Pearl vowed she would always be there to protect and care for this sacred space. In death, her vow was not forgotten, and Pearl took on the role of cemetery gatekeeper. She keeps a watchful eye over the blackened iron gates. All are welcome to seek solace here. However, this ghostly presence ensures that those who enter are respectful and neither the living nor the dead, leave unless she allows them to do so.

This one of a kind, Victorian ghost art doll was created for the Victorian Revenants collaboration, hosted by The Doll Artists Collective on Instagram. Pearl is now ready to find her final resting place.

Measuring 26cm (around 10") from head to toe, Pearl is made from white quilting cotton, jointed with metal beads at the shoulders, elbows, wrists and knees. The neck is button jointed.

Pearl's face has been hand painted in archival quality ink and artists’ coloured pencil for a long lasting finish. She has antique silver finish metal buttons for eyes. The hair is made from soft acrylic yarn in a pale pearl grey shade. 

Pearl wears a grey cotton gown with white lace trim and faux pearl beads, white broderie anglais bloomers and tulle petticoat. She holds a bunch of decorative keys. The boots are painted in acrylics.

As with all Spyderthread products, Pearl Mournington is vegan friendly. She is signed, numbered and dated by the artist, and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. Unless otherwise stated, clothes are fixed in place. Please note that this doll is a collectible art doll, for display only.
